January 26th, 2008

Today was a great day! The longarm quilters of our area met at the shop. What a treat for me! There is nothing better than to sit with a group of friends, have a little show-n-tell, and talk about quilting. I don't usually get to go to their meetings because I am at the shop, but today I was in attendance. If there are any long or short arm people that read this, you can join this group and learn all kinds of new ideas to help you with your quilting.

I was also chastised about how frequently I Blog. I will try to do better, but please don't hold your breathe on this.

The renovations are proceeding...too slow for me. But if you have ever dealt with construction people (affectionately call the "sweaty men" by my family) you know that you can't speed them up to save your life.

A sad bit of news, the man we hired to do the first renovation father had a stroke and will put us behind a little. Our prayers go with him and his family.

A bit of good news, we have been getting new fabric by the box loads lately...lots of new and pretty fabric. Our Batik, 30's, and reproductions shelves are virtually overflowing.

Kay had surgery a week ago. She is doing well and getting as sassy as ever! We saw Karla Kuklaw today and she is driving and doing okay after her surgery.

Has anyone noticed how light it is after 5 pm now? I love going home in the daylight and not the dark! Tomorrow I am going to plant the daffodils that didn't get planted in the Fall. Hope they bloom.

Have a good week.

January 16, 2008

Okay, I know it has been a while since I wrote. Thanksgiving was very nice with the family. Christmas was a blast. The grandkids are 4,3,2,1 in age and every present was a big surprise to them. It really is the most fun with kids around, don't you agree?

The New Year came in very quiet for Ron and me. We were at home, watched the ball drop, and went to bed. I can't really remember the last time we "celebrated" New Years. I am glad that January is half over and the shop hasn't closed due to ice!

Holly and I joined a gym. We hope to "pump it up" this year. Did you make any resolutions? I hate to make them. They are too hard to live up to. But I do hope to get a little cardiovascular action going this year.

We hope to have a hole in the wall in the Gammill room next week. I have been talking with contractors, floor people, heating, electricians, etc and it seems to be moving towards some action now. We will have a little bit of a mess for a few weeks, but then we will have 900 more square feet. Space is always something we need more of! The Tea Room will follow after we do the first renovation.

I hope the holidays were good for all of you. Thank you so much for your continued support of Merrily We Quilt Along. I hope this is the best year for you and your family.
